City-0-Nexus

City-0-Nexus is the level that I created using the hammer editor (used to create source games). I had only twelve weeks of prior knowledge of using the hammer editor as this was used with my other project which was to create a Team Fortress 2 multiplayer level.

I decided to use the hammer editor for FYP (Final Year Project), as I wanted to get more experience with the editor itself and wanted to see how single-player levels were done. I decided I wanted to choose the Half-Life 2 game and create a level for this.

This FYP project took around five months to be completed and to get a hang of the editor itself.

But why did I want to make this my FYP? I wanted to do this because I've always enjoyed FPS (first-person shooters), and I've always enjoyed Valve games, which is why I decided to do this.

  • Came up with dialogues that appear on the screen to hint what the objective is.

  • Added sounds, such as breaking class triggers an alarm soundtrack.
